Make 100-Day-Old Baby's Hand Mold Castings
The baby is almost four months old! This hand model was originally intended to arrange the dessert table in a hundred days, but this is far more difficult to make than imagined. When it is finally made, the baby is already almost 4 months old. So I didn't make it at all when the baby was a hundred days old. When I bought it, I really thought about it too simple. I did it 4 or 5 times, and fortunately, I finally made some satisfactory little hands and feet. Let me talk about my experience of making baby hand and foot castings from my "painful" practice to give some help to the treasure parents who want to make.
1. Regarding the production time, it is best to wait until the baby is 30 days old. Because some babies will peel off during the confinement period, it is best to make them after the full moon. Babies who are 100 days old are quieter and have little physical movement, so they will do better. Our baby has been doing it for almost a hundred days, and it’s still difficult to do it all day long. You can wait for her to do it after she falls asleep.
2. In terms of production materials, there are generally two choices of medical-grade clone powder and edible seaweed powder. There are some differences in prices, but seaweed powder is recommended for safety reasons. The baby has had no adverse reaction after several times, but every baby has different physique. It is recommended to apply some to the wrist or ear for an allergy test before doing it. Wash your hands promptly after use, especially for babies in the oral phase, who love to eat hands, be sure to check whether there are any residues between the nails.
3. During the production process, the whole production is to mix the clone powder and water according to 1:3 first, then put the baby's hands or feet in and stand still, wait for the liquid to solidify before taking it out carefully. The solidification speed is related to the water temperature, the higher the temperature, the faster the solidification. It is recommended to use the water of about 25 degrees Celsius, you can use the water in the thermostat, which is convenient for observing the temperature. It is easy to shock the baby if it is too cold, and it is easy to solidify if it is too hot.
4. Matters needing attention ⚠️, it is easy to feel that you are wrong in the process of blending, because this clone powder is not overwhelming. You can add it in two batches and stir, generally use chopsticks to stir 40 times. Then put the baby's hands or feet in, remember to move back and forth a few times to eliminate bubbles.
5. When making it, it's best when the baby is asleep or just waking up in a daze. Don't let her see what you are doing. I suggest holding it upright and putting your head on your shoulders to let father or other family members attract the baby's attention. When we were making, we were all four of us. Dad held her and grandpa was responsible for teasing her. I took the box to do it, and grandma grabbed her arm to prevent her from kicking again. Generally, it’s just a struggle when you just put it in, and you’ll get used to it after a while, and the cloned powder will gradually solidify, and the baby will not be very active. After that, you can drag the box with her feet or hands. After waiting for it to solidify, slowly open some gaps from the edge, and then slowly shake it out.
Precautions:
1. Don't be reluctant to use clone powder, especially for feet. The first time I did it, I didn't consider the insteps. It was not enough to put it in. And don't step on it all at once, there will be no foot prints.
2. Don't be too entangled in the shape of the hand, usually because of tension, fists or toes are clenched. I think they are cute, so pay attention to the baby's emotions. When the baby relaxes, he will naturally spread his fingers.
